- ES File Explorer can no longer download APK files directly — Sideloading guide updated with solution. Also in Android 6+, the settings dropdown menu has a dark background which makes the text harder to read, but this goes away if you use dual bar window style. - Oct 3, 2014 - ES File Manager cannot decompress large files. Use ZArchiver instead.
To get more reliable results, you should do one of the following:. Share your APK without putting it into a RAR or a ZIP. As APK files are already compressed, you won't make it much smaller by compressing it. This is also easier for the end user, as they do not need to decompress it first. Some phones do not have an app installed for extracting ZIP or RAR files, and users will not want to install another app just to install yours.
Are you not able to open your compressed RAR file?; Need not get depressed, simply make use of WinRAR Repair tool to fix corrupt RAR file header. After the RAR file gets corrupted users get different types of messages whenever they try to access the archived. A few of them are as follows: “Cannot open a file”; “CRC.
Put it into a ZIP. As I said, this probably won't make much of a difference to the file size, but it should be compatible with most devices. (Provided that the device has an app installed for extracting ZIP files). Or, when you are creating the RAR file, tell WinRAR to use the older RAR file format, RAR4, instead of RAR5. Then it uses the '7z' command. P7zip is able to extract the archive just like unzip, but it prompts the aforementioned header error which causes file-roller to fail completely. Install p7zip and you will experience the same issue that I did. Drop zip support then? Just correct the bug that causes the corrupt header. Where's the code that generates the zip files?
